In the moments before the debate, Paul explained how his beliefs in limited government and even his opposition to the Federal Reserve had their foundations in scripture, combined with his study of the Constitution. Before he left to take the stage that night in November, Paul smiled and said to Wead, who told this story to Yahoo News, “You know, the libertarians are just baffled by me. They didn’t think it was possible for someone to come this direction. A person of faith.” {read the rest}

Jeffrey Goldberg argues that Ron Paul–though not a Zionist–understand Zionism better than all the other candidates.

Well, in this clip he endorses Michelle Bachmann:
But I asked him on twitter if he would endorse anyone and he seems to find another candidate to be equally competent. His response was:
I think the best declared candidates on most issues are Ron Paul and Michele Bachman–but both have serious liabilities.
Grant has been a faithful student of history, particularly American history. His opinion means more to me than many other evangelical pastors.<>
To begin Tom Woods makes this compelling video specifically addressed to Steve Deace. Tom offers a case for why Deace should endorse Ron Paul. Deace is a respected Talk Show Host in Iowa and many have sought his endorsement before the Iowa Caucus in less than four weeks. Today he has written a piece almost endorsing Michelle Bachmann whom he believes most closely resembles his principles. Steve stresses that Christian voters should reward faithfulness. It’s a fine article. Bachmann does not have my vote, but among the other neo-cons, she is far superior in principle.<>
Michael Doughterty seems rather confident that Paul will shock the world in Iowa. Among his reasons are the loyal Paul supporters who do not change. Once they come into the Paul camp, they do not leave. Whereas Iowans some Iowans have shifted from candidate to candidate, Paul supporters in Iowa are loyal to the end. Doughterty writes:
And why wouldn’t they be loyal? Ron Paul is offering something distinctive in this race – a return to a non-interventionist foreign policy, sound money, and Constitutional principles. And he has the ability to expand his support beyond his loyal fans, Iowa Republicans rate him the “most honest and trustworthy” among all candidates. It’s his consistency, even when he is at odds with the average Republican voter, that has impressed Texas voters for years.
Even if Paul fails to win the nomination, his campaign ,like Goldwater’s in 1964, can help leading libertarians identify their supporters and build long-term political institutions that can draw on their fund-raising power and activist energy for decades.
